Ford to build 4 cylinder version of EcoBoost engine (from WORLD CAR FANS)
Ford hasn't even delivered on the promised V6 EcoBoost engine and already they have a 4 banger version coming too.
According to the Detroit News Auto Insider, Ford is working on an EcoBoost version of its basic 2.0 liter engine block. No details have been made available as to the power output of the 2.0 liter EcoBoost - a 4 cylinder, direct-injection, turbocharged engine. What is known is that it will likely make its debut in the Ford Fusion in 2010.
Ford may also be developing an EcoBoost version of the 1.4 liter, a naturally aspirated engine currently in use in its European model range.
The V6 EcoBoost is a 3.5 liter engine that, according to Ford, promises the power of a V8 and is aimed at providing greater fuel economy for larger vehicles. The V6 EcoBoost is slated to go into service on the upcoming 2010 Lincoln MKS, which will be launched in mid-2009.
