Racing Spoilers Insight:

The spoiler or wing on a race car is essentially an airplane wing turned upside down. As the race car increases speed, more air flows past the spoiler and, instead of causing lift, it causes downforce. This pushes the back (or front if mounted in front) of the car onto the track. The car gets better traction (or grip as they say in racing). The faster it goes, the more downforce the spoiler produces.
